GOOD PAVING STARTS BEFORE THE ASPHALT ARRIVES
A low driveway, a soft parking area or water collecting beside the entrance can undermine a new surface. These are preparation questions that need attention before paving covers the ground.

Tri County Asphalt provides grading and site preparation for driveway, parking and access projects across the Central Valley. We consider the shape of the area, the support beneath it and the connections to the surfaces around it.

Planning a new driveway or additional parking? Bring the preparation and paving into the same estimate so finished heights, drainage and base work are addressed before construction starts.
SHAPE THE AREA FOR THE WAY IT WILL BE USED
NEW DRIVEWAYS AND PARKING AREAS
An unpaved area needs more than a layer of asphalt placed on top. The ground must be prepared and the base established for the intended traffic. Width, turning space and access for construction equipment also affect the work.
UNEVEN EXISTING AREAS
Depressions and abrupt transitions can make a driveway or entrance difficult to use. We look at how the proposed surface will meet garages, gates, curbs and adjoining pavement before recommending the preparation.
PREPARATION FOR REPLACEMENT
Removing failed pavement can expose problems beneath it. The replacement plan may need base repairs or changes to the surface shape before new asphalt is installed.

GIVE WATER SOMEWHERE APPROPRIATE TO GO
Water collecting on or beside pavement deserves attention. The solution depends on where it comes from, where it can go and how the surrounding property is arranged.

Grading can be part of that solution, but simply raising one area may move the problem elsewhere. We discuss the drainage conditions as part of the project and identify when additional design or drainage work needs to be resolved.

If you have photos taken during or after rain, they can help show a problem that is difficult to see on a dry day. Our driveway grading and drainage guide explains what to observe.
MATCH THE BASE TO THE JOB
The supporting layers beneath pavement matter to how it carries traffic. A driveway used by passenger cars and an area receiving regular heavy vehicles can require different preparation.

Tell us about deliveries, equipment, trailers and the vehicles that will park or turn on the surface. That helps connect the preparation to the actual project rather than make assumptions based on appearance alone.

Where material is part of the work, we can also discuss gravel delivery.

COORDINATE PREPARATION WITH THE FINISHED SURFACE
Planning grading separately from paving can leave important questions between the two. The intended finish, thickness and elevations should be understood before the ground is shaped.

We can discuss preparation alongside driveway paving, parking lot paving or chip seal. That makes it easier to see the sequence and understand which work is included.
WHAT TO SHARE WHEN YOU CONTACT US
Tell us the property address, the area you want improved and what happens there now. Mention standing water, soft ground, difficult entrances or any existing pavement that needs removal.

Plans and measurements are helpful if you have them. If you do not, a description and photos are enough to start the conversation. We can discuss what further site review is needed.
